I used to live in France but then I came back
Rejoined the race until I ran out of track
I ran out of track and then I came back
Bounced out of the picture and then I bounced back
I need my continuity girl I need
The life I once had
I keep looking back but I can't see where I've been
It's like waking up and trying to remember a dream
I used to live in London but then I moved to Kent
I was in the music business but the music biz was bent
So I quit the music business - claimed benefit instead
Got sick and made a comeback and had trouble inside my head
I need my continuity girl I need
The friends I once had
I keep looking back but I can't see where I've been
It's like waking up and trying to remember a dream
We were sitting in a garden outside a pub
There were geraniums and pansies in flowerpots and tubs
Gravel in the car park and underneath a shrub
There was a plastic bird on a stick
Its wings were moulded into its sides
And it had two propellers - one on each side
And even though it could never fly
The propellers spun around in the wind
We drank orange juice and I began to feel cheerful again
I need my continuity girl I need
The life I once had
I keep looking back but I can't see the point
It's like a film that's been remade
Over and over and over again
